PNB GETS AWARD FOR CHANGE MANAGEMENT

Punjab National Bank gets SKOTCH Challenger award for Change Management for the year 2005-06. Hon'ble Minister for Panchayati Raj and Sports, Shri Mani Shankar Aiyar presented the Award to Shri B.M. Mittal, Chief General Manager of the Bank.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Mittal said that, using trusted intermediaries to deliver financial products by serving customers in their neighborhood can overcome the obstacles for financial inclusion. PNB has been closely associated with the economic development by providing financial support to generate gainful self-employment and poverty alleviation. Bank's priority sector credit has risen to Rs.30170 crore at the end of Dec.2005 forming 45.51% of net bank credit against the National Goal of 40%.

As a contribution to the welfare of the farming community, PNB has established "Farmers' Welfare Trust" aimed at providing training to farmers in respect of latest agricultural practices. PNB is also providing training for self-employment to rural youth through PNB Centenary Rural Development Trust. Through its branches apart from credit dispensation, the Bank is playing its role as a catalyst for social change by adopting villages under its "Village Adoption Scheme".

To ensure financial inclusion of the poorest/deserving sections of the society, PNB has launched a No Frills Savings Bank a/c known as PNB Mitra Savings Bank Account.
